5.1. Methodological overview

The methodology followed in this course is oriented towards achievement of the learning objectives. A wide range of teaching and learning tasks are implemented, such as lectures, student participation, group activities, tutorials and the presentation of a written review.

5.2. Learning tasks

The course includes the following learning tasks: 

  • Lectures: The student has attend the lectures. These sessions offer a global vision of the contents and the most advisable resources will be indicated to study the topic in depth. For the study of every topic, it will be indicated one or more compulsory readings of the basic bibliography.
  • Practical activities in group: The teacher will present case studies in order for students to learn how to identify the elements of the institution about which they treat and how to solve legal problems. The students, supervised by the teacher, will do other assignments like paper and judgment analysis.
  • Tutorials: The teacher will guide the student in the learning process, in matters of general or individual character.
  • In the continuous assessment system, it is compulsory to submit a written review.

5.3. Syllabus

The course will address the following topics:

Topic 1. Introduction to the Spanish legal system. Constitutional principles. Powers and Public Administrations in the Social State of Law.

Topic 2. Distribution of competences and administrative organization of tourism.

Topic 3. Territorial management of tourism resources.

Topic 4. Rights and duties in relation to tourism.

Topic 5. The legal status of the tourist. Rights and duties.

Topic 6. Tourism companies (I). Operation.

Topic 7. Tourism companies (II). Tourist accommodation companies.

Topic 8. Tourism companies (III). Intermediation companies.

Topic 9. Tourism companies (IV). Tourist resorts, catering companies and active tourism companies.

Topic 10. Tourism professions.

Topic 11 Tourism promotion.

Topic 12. Tourism Discipline.

5.4. Course planning and calendar

The calendar of the theoretical and practical activities will be published on the virtual platform of the course. Information related to the assessment will be published on the “message board” of the virtual platform Moodle.
